Reporting and Getting Assistance

How to report a racist incident
If you have experienced or witnessed a racist or religiously motivated incident, you can report it in a number of ways to the Police or to the Partnership Community Safety Team (PCST).

1. Reporting to the Police
Sussex Police regard a racist or religiously motivated incident as a ‘strategy’ incident and therefore they will respond as soon as possible.

  • In an emergency please dial 999 and ask to speak to the Police
  • If the situation is not urgent, you can contact the police on 0845 6070 999 or email the police on contact.centre@sussex.pnn.police.uk
  • You can also visit the police stations in Brighton & Hove in person.
  • If you need an interpreter, the police will be able to provide you with one.

2. True Vision self-reporting forms
If you have experienced a racist or religiously motivated incident that you wish to self-report, you could do so by using the True Vision forms. The self-reporting forms titled 'Tackling crimes against race & religion' are available in the city’s council buildings and police stations. Look for the Eye sign (see below).

You could also access and report incidents on-line to the police.
