Brighton & Hove celebrates International Restorative Justice Week 2016 at an afternoon event on Wednesday 23rd November, at 12.30pm in the Council Chamber, Brighton Town Hall.
This year's theme is 'Inspiring Innovation' and the event looks to showcase examples of national developments in restorative justice and practices together with more local practices in Brighton & Hove and wider Sussex.
The theme of the event is around young people, education and inclusion including the benefits of restorative practice with children in care; and restorative practice in schools including a live case study reflecting on how the Community Safety Team supported a parent of children harmed by a prejudiced-based incident in one of our schools.
There will also be information sharing around UK Government research into restorative justice provision and a reflection on the difference between mediation and restorative justice.
The event is open to all who are interested in restorative justice, restorative approaches, education, inclusion, mediation and young people.
There will opportunities for networking and social media interaction. The event will be recorded live and therefore all attendees accept that by registering for the event they may be included in the event's film which will be available from the www.safeinthecity.info website soon after.
