Brighton is marking International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia (IDAHOBIT) on Friday 17 May, 2013. The event is at the Old Steine, in central Brighton opposite Revenge nightclub. 17 May commemorates the day in 1990 the World Health Organisation removed homosexuality from its list of mental diseases.

Providing a visible and reassuring presence for the public and strengthening strong working relationships within the community - that's what Sussex Police promised 10 years ago when the first Police Community Support Officers (PCSOs) took to the streets of Sussex!
March 2012 is the tenth anniversary of PCSOs in Sussex and their role has gone from strength to strength; the Force now employs 362 officers across the whole of Sussex, many in specialist roles including wildlife officers and school liaison.
International Women's Day has been observed since the early 1900's. Annually on 8th March, thousands of events are held throughout the world to inspire women and celebrate achievements. A global web of rich and diverse local activity connect women from all around the world ranging from political rallies, business conferences, government activities and networking events through to local women's craft markets, theatrical performances, fashion parades and more.
On 14 February the Hove Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT) will move into Hove Town Hall to work even more closely with colleagues from Brighton & Hove City Council. Hove's front counter service will also be located at the Town Hall where members of the public can report incidents and stolen property and get crime prevention advice. This move will relocate all the services that are currently based in Hove Police Station in Holland Road.
Together we are working hard to encourage earlier reporting of domestic abuse, we are appealing to people to talk to police and partner agencies and not suffer in silence. For this to happen it is vital that people are aware of the help and support that is available from both police and partner agencies in the city.

The Council's LGBT Worker's Forum, Make Them Eat Cake & Lunch Positive along with sponsors Barefoot wine will be offering free refreshments and the chance to Adopt-A-Pansy for £5 and raise money for the Sussex Beacon.
On Display in the Town Hall atrium will be the Hankie Quilt, an HIV memorial quilt to those we lost and those living with HIV

The LGBT Community Safety Forum is an independent group of lesbian, gay, bi-sexual and transgendered (LGBT) people in Brighton & Hove. The aim of the group is to ensure effective accountability between the LGBT communities of Brighton & Hove and the statutory authorities, including Sussex Police and Brighton & Hove City Council (BHCC).
A new support group for children and adults affected by someone else’s drug or alcohol use is offering free sessions for Brighton & Hove residents.
The Children and Adults Talking Together (CATT) programme is run by the Brighton Oasis Project. While children take part in their own group activities, their adult carers attend sessions where they can discuss their situation and get support to cope better with someone else’s substance misuse.
