RISE National VAWG Conference - 13th and 14th November 

Come together with a shared vision to learn the small, achievable, changes we can take that can result in big differences for survivors. RISE’s 20th Anniversary National VAWG Conference will focus on practical, realistic, personal and organisational goals.

Reclaim the Night Brighton - November 15th

Join us again this year and help us take a stand against gender based street harassment and violence at night!

Reclaim the Night Brighton is open to people of all genders. We’re inviting individuals, families, groups and organizations to march with us and demand safer streets! Our march is trans* inclusive and we are pro sex worker rights.

In support of Survivors' Network and Ugly Mugs.

When: Saturday 15th November 2014, 6pm

Where: Meet at Brighton train station, before marching through the centre of Brighton, ending at the Sallis Benney Theatre on Grand Parade for a rally.

Talking Stalking - November 26th

The conference aims to raise awareness of the complexities of stalking behaviours as well as the impact on victims and the community in general

RISE Living Library - November 27th 

Domestic abuse affects so many people. Discover stories of survival. Volunteer Living Books will make themselves available to be ‘borrowed’ by members of the public for open conversation about their lives and experiences.

Brighton Women’s Centre - 40 Years Empowering Women and 40 Photos “Proud to be a woman” Exhibition Opening and 2014 AGM - December 1st

Over the decades BWC developed into a unique woman-only space, and now is the only holistic organisation providing services to the city’s vulnerable and disadvantaged women. We’ll be selecting 40 of our favourite selfies to display as part of a public photography exhibition in December 2014 at the Jubilee Library, Brighton to celebrate our 40th birthday.

Survivors’ Knitwork – Casting On - December 3rd 

Inspired by the writings of Nina Burrowes, and the illustrations in her book ‘The Courage to Be Me’ comes an exciting new project: Survivors’ Knitwork.

The project aims to bring together survivors of sexual violence, their supporters and the wider community to create a beautiful, communal scarf. As well as highlighting that survivors can be both hidden and comforted the project will also be a physical embodiment of the power of sharing, connecting and acting together.

When: Wednesday December 3rd, between 11am and 2pm
