FREE TRAINING OPPORTUNITY

A new training programme is available for Muslim Mothers and Women whose children may have accepted Islam, designed to provide them with IT skills, knowledge of the internet and guidance on keeping children safe online.

What is the programme:

30 Muslim Mothers can attend the internet safety course
There are 6 sessions – women must attend all 6 sessions
All sessions will start at 10:30am and finish at 2:30pm – i.e. when children are in school so those with childcare responsibilities can work around their school run etc.

The training dates are:

10th and 23rd February
3rd, 8th and 15th March and
4th April 2016

The first session will start on 10th February. Please confirm by 3rd February 2016 to: charlotte.farrell@brighton-hove.gcsx.gov.uk.

If we have many more than 30 women then we can make decisions about how the places will be allocated.
There is no requirement that women should have IT or social media experience and if needed interpreter will be provided.

  • Please promote the programme – publicise it as widely as possible.
  • Display the poster in the mosques, in your offices, in schools
  • Speak about the training course, discuss at your meetings and encourage women to sign up, answer any questions they may have.
  • Speak with your colleagues and in your teams to ensure that the information is disseminated to those staff members who work with Muslim communities.

Thank you for all your support and let’s get talking about this programme and encourage Muslim Women to sign up for this course. It is so important that Muslim mothers feel confident in their skills to keep their children safe online, are able to discuss the sensitive issues of the risks arising from the internet and social media such as the child sexual exploitation and risk from terrorist and extremist organisations and are able to report offensive content when needed. Please remember to let women know that learning from this training programme could be applied and extend to different issues and risks. We do want all 30 places to be taken up to get the best value of money from this programme.
