Do you identify as Trans, Non-Binary or Genderqueer? If so, we'd like you to complete our short survey.

Brighton & Hove City Council is proud of all our diverse communities.  As a city, we have a considerable number of Trans & Non-Binary people living here.  We hope that this is because our city is welcoming to everyone regardless of who they are, where they are from and how they may define their sexes or express their genders.

2:30pm - One Minute Silence Vigil outside the Hove Town Hall

Councillors, staff and residents are welcome to meet outside the main entrance at the Hove Town Hall at 2:30pm today for a one minute silence to remember all those killed or injured in the terrorist incident outside the Muslim Welfare Centre near Finsbury Park Mosque on Monday 19th June 2017 and elsewhere in the world in similar violence.

Following the incident outside of the Muslim Welfare Centre near Finsbury Park Mosque early this morning, the city’s One Voice partnership strongly condemns this act of violence on innocent people.

We are deeply sorrowful at yet another tragedy affecting our communities.  We send our deepest sympathies to the family who have lost their loved one, those who have been injured, and all affected communities.

IDAHOBIT: City to stand in solidarity with those persecuted in Chechnya

IDAHOBIT commemorates the day in 1990 the World Health Organisation removed homosexuality from its list of mental diseases and this year will give everyone in the city the opportunity to stand in solidarity with our brothers and sisters being persecuted in Chechnya.

Faith communities across Brighton & Hove stand together as One Voice

Members of the city’s One Voice partnership, that brings together communities including faiths groups and minorities to tackle racism and intolerance, would like to reaffirm our commitment for our ‘city values’ based on pluralism, equality, fairness and respect for all.  Community members had summed up our ethos at a previous meeting: “We will not tolerate hate incidents, extremist perspectives or actions in the city.”  

The best chance for a homeless person to get off the streets is with professional help.

Homeless charities in Brighton & Hove are joining together this winter to raise awareness of how to help people living rough on the streets.

Brighton Housing Trust, St Mungo’s, Pavilions, Equinox and Nightstop are highlighting what support is available in the city for people sleeping rough and offering advice on how best to help those in need.

Online Safety Programme For Muslim Mothers, Brighton & Hove - NOTE: NEW START DATE:  Wednesday 1st February 2017, as stated below:

‘Web Guardians©’ is an educational programme that recognises the important role mothers can play in keeping their children safe when they are online.  It is an internet safety course delivered in 5 sessions starting on Wednesday 1st February 2017 in Brighton & Hove and the final session will take place on 8th March 2017.
