Farman Street Gating Request

Residents of Farman Street – a pedestrian passage which runs between Western Road and Cross Street – have contacted the council requesting night time gating of Farman Street to reduce the impact of criminal and antisocial behaviour in the area. This request was first initiated in 2006, but the process was suspended because of planning issues at an adjoining development.

Following discussion with residents and businesses in the immediate vicinity of Farman Street a draft proposal has been developed and circulated for informal consultation with residents and key stakeholders, and this report and associated appendices can be downloaded below. On September 9th 2010 the council published a draft Gating Order based on this report for statutary consultation. A copy of the draft Order can be downloaded below. If you would like to comment on this you shouyld do so by the 8th of October 2010

If you would like further information on this process, please contact Simon Bannister at Brighton & Hove City Council Environment Improvements – [email protected] – 01273 293925
